I used to get this call when I lived in San Francisco: the phone rings; I pick it up and say hello. The person on the other end makes this totally bizzarre sound like a deaf person trying to speak. The person would repeat certain utterances, and all I could say was "huh?" or "what did you say?" After a few minutes the person would get agitated and hang up. A year later I would get the same call. This was an on and off thing for about 4 years. I attempted to communicate with the person, but it was impossible. The last few times "it" called, I answered very cheerfuly, like I was talking to an old friend. This made the caller even more flustered.
I guess you had to be there.

Re: wierd phone call
Sun, February 15, 2004 - 1:36 PMI have known deaf people, yea. My dad was deaf.
The incredibly odd thing about this person was that "it" was completely unintelligible, yet would be obviously distressed that I could not understand and got increasingly irritated with me as the call progressed.
Anyways.
